I wasn't sure what to expect when I picked up this book, but I have loved the drake sister series, the dark series and the ghostwalker series so I thought I would give it a try. It is a longer book at 443 pages, but it is well worth the read. Jonas and Hannah do make a small appearance toward the end of the book, but this book focused on a completely different "family" who are all together out of choice (sisters of the heart) rather than blood. This book was an excellent first book for a series and I hope she keeps from turning this into a drake sisters extension by focusing on the new family and the drake sisters characters only coming in as necessary to further the plot. While I have enjoyed the drake sisters books, I was glad to see that Jonas and Hannah only came into the story for Jonas to act in his official sheriff capacity and then were gone again. Having a daughter with special needs I was leery when I realized what direction she was taking the heroine as it is really hard to write a character in a romance like this and still make it believable. Christine Feehan does an amazing job of conveying some of the challenges and joys that a person with special challenges faces without making her appear weak or pathetic or sacrificing her dignity or independence. It's easy for an author to mistakenly write the character as more childlike and therefore take something from the relationship of the two. The plot didn't come across as contrived and I never felt like the relationship was rushed jut to get to "the good stuff". There was less sex than some of her other books, but the plot was good enough that I didn't really miss it, and it seemed appropriate to the building relationship between the two. Some might consider the ending a bit "quick and easy", but I actually found the villain's demise rather appropriate all things considered. Overall an excellent read from a really talented author who just seems to keep getting better and better.

I love how she started a new series in Sea Haven. I worried that it would just be a continuation of the Drake's but this is a whole new family. The Drake family is there but they are not what the book is about. Surprises abound in this book. It was hard to put down. I also give Feehan props for allowing someone who is autistic to fall in love with someone who respects the boundaries of someone who has special needs.

Starting out I continued reading this book because the scene where Rikki and Lev met was perfect; very well written and I was truly sucked in. I kept reading because I identified with Rikki more than any woman I have ever read about. However, this book could have been cut in half. Mid way through I started skipping; I would start a paragraph and know exactly what is going to be said because it had already been said so, so many times. The repetition was brutal. I'm wondering if I can pick up another one of her books.

I pulled Waterbound off my TBR and finally read it. While not the greatest book on the whole, I LOVED Feehan's characterization of the heroine (who has an autistic spectrum disorder). I work with adults with developmental disabilities, many of whom also have an ASD. Feehan was spot on in many of the mannerisms and routines, even though she took a little poetic license in some places--almost a must with the paranormal elements. That character affected me pretty deeply. And I just LOVED the way he accepted her "quirks." Everyone else around her was trying to make her fit into their world and work with their rules. He was the only one that said, what is OK for you--and then went with it. If she didn't want to eat something, he made her a peanut butter sandwich. If she doesn't want to use the "good china" he says, OK we'll use paper until we can get a regular set of dishes. When she starts to unravel, he wraps her weighted blanket around her, without thinking anything of it. So many of the things she thought made it impossible for her to have a relationship, were complete non-issues for him. I wish more people were this accepting of the needs of people with sensory processing difficulties and other autistic characteristics--or even just day to day quirks that everyone has.

They both had gifts that made them different. Different was unacceptable to most people, but he understood her better than she understood herself at times. Her gift of controlling water, being bound to it, did not frighten him. He simply accepted it.
But Rikki feared letting anyone too close. The fires of her childhood haunted her. What if she had started the fires that killed people and destroyed so much? She didn't believe she did, but what if she were wrong? Supposing she did it in her sleep or something? She worried about the people she loved. Nothing could happen to them because of her. She just couldn't take one more death like that.
Could he help her? Would he be hurt?
Maybe together they could survive.

I loved the characters and concepts but couldn't stand how repetitive the writing was. Let's hope the author can find a tough editor before the next book comes out. Your readers read the scene where their eyes met underwater and got what an amazing connection they made. We do NOT need to be reminded of it in every subsequent chapter!

I was so disappointed when the Drake Sisters series ended. When I found out there was another series that took place in Sea Haven with another family of 'sisters' I was all in. I loved the way she intermingled the characters and had some interaction with the Drakes. I can hardly wait to read the rest of this series!

This book was "just alright". I agree with another reader in that the Drake series was better. Alot of time was spent describing Ricki lost in her thoughts secondary to her autism. The story line just didn't captivate me. However, I will give the next book in this series a chance

This is the first book in a new series by Christine Feehan. Based loosely on the setting for her Drake Sisters series, I found the book to be a good read, but it didn't grab me as quickly as her other books have. Still, I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

Christine Feehan is just getting better and better with her writing. With so many books behind on my reading shelf, I couldn't wait to get started on this one. I believe most of the readers will agree that this book being a new series would be one of her best. I love how Ms Feehan was able to create the relationship between Rikki who has special needs (autism) and Lev with dark past but trained to be a patient man. I definitely felt the love on this one. Can't wait for the next book to come out...!!HURRY MS FEEHAN!!!!
