Excellent read, engages you right from the beginning and you are drawn into the ignorance and supersition of the times. Very informative about the start of papermaking and the risks that were associated with it. You feel for the powerful wave of emotions that main character feels. A excellent read.
I don't usually read stuff set in the middle ages, but this book intrigued me. I really enjoyed most of this novel, learning a LOT about how life was back in the early 1300's, and the history of paper making. The ending was a bit predictable and weak, but this book was still enjoyable.
