Interesting story about a folk singer who suddenly comes into possession of a very old cottage and then finds that it's haunted.
A great weekend read. The first in a series of four books involving the ghosts of characters from famous English ballads.

Promising start to a fun and unique series. The characters are very likable and witty. The ghosts had a sad but solid back story which was gradually revealed through a variety of clues. The main characters were introduced and fleshed out with some quirks and much dialogue. Some of the writing could have been a tad tighter (like reading a section of a character's direct encounter with one of the ghosts, and then reading that character explain blow by blow the same encounter to another character in the next chapter.) The ghost element was a bit spooky but not frightening. The mystery was solved in a satisfying way. Overall it was an entertaining and enjoyable read. I also appreciated learning a bit of history regarding trade transition from hand loom weavers working as artists to the industrial weavers working in factories. I looked up the folk song, new to me, on YouTube and found several lovely renditions. Recommend.
