I'm sure glad that Jamie Purviance went to cullinary school! I love this book. In the Introduction, he describes this book as the culmination of what he's learned writing his other 5 books. I can believe that. The book is loaded with information and there are a few interesting tips, like freezing a bunch of soaked bamboo skewers so you always have some ready on short notice. The photography, layout and writing are top notch.

Charcoal and gas grills are the primary focus of the book, but smokers receive a little attention, too. The cooking directions focus on grills with covers, like Weber grills.

The recipes are all simple, but none of them are ordinary. Brats and onions cooked in hard cider, hamburgers with brie inside, stuffed turkey breast, and even grilled strawberries are just a few of the tempting offerings of this book.

If you're an experienced griller, you may pick up some tips and the recipes will tempt you. If you're new to grilling, this is the book that you need. It is easy to understand, well laid out, and covers all of the basics from selecting your grill, to using it and maintaining it. And, yes, I'm keeping my copy. :-)
