A delightful must-read ~ I thoroughly enjoyed book #2 in the Bride Hunt series. A perennial wallflower, bespectacled Charlotte Greene has a dry internal wit that had me laughing out loud from page two on. Loved a number of other quirky characters as well like Charlotte's mother Hyacinth, Rothbury's semi-senile grandmother Louisette and even lecherous old Witherby, Charlotte's persistent suitor. Then there's Rothbury, the handsome hero who fell in love with Charlotte way back in Book #1 but restrains himself until the very end of this book to reveal it. On her website, author Olivia Parker says she is writing a third book, Rosalind Devine's story. Hope it comes out soon and is as good as this one.

This book was as good as the first. It is just so great. I read this book in less than 24 hrs because I didn't want to put it down. After you read The Bride Hunt Ball, you must read this. Great books!!!

After reading the first book in the Bride Hunt series, I was eagerly awaiting this one. Well, I was disappointed. Unlike the first book, At the Bride Hunt Ball, the plot of this book is all over the place. The heroine, Charlotte, is a wallflower who was jilted by the Duke's brother. Adam Faramond, Earl of Rothbury, has loved Charlotte for years and comes to her rescue, asking her to dance. Soon the two becomes friends. Charlotte believes Adam is in love with someone else, and offers to help him reform his wicked ways. Adam plays along until his senile Grandmother decides he needs to marry quickly or lose his inheritance. So, he asks Charlotte to meet his french grandmother. The next thing they know, they're in the middle of a fake marriage ceremony which later turns out to be real.

Even though this is an easy read, I can't recommend the book. My rating: 2 Stars.

I was eagerly awaiting this book. Even the premise of the story sounded intriguing, and I couldn't wait to start this story. Unfortunately, I really had a hard time actually getting all the way through the story. While the concept was good, the execution was poor and the characters hard to like. The plot could have been great but I feel it was weak. Half the time I was struggling with all the jumps the author made in the story's time line. The first chapter was great, but then the second chapter jumped to a year later, and the third to a few months after that, and so on. The characters seemed to change, especially the heroine. She seemed sweet and shy at the beginning, but then quickly had the nerve to break into the hero's house. She only knew of the hero's horrible reputation, but pushed all that aside pretty quickly to be his friend. However, we were never given the chance to see how their frienshhip developed. I just wish that their changing relationship had been more focused throughout the book so that we could really discover and see its development between the two characters more fully.

1813 - England
I loved this book. I almost didn't order it as the first in the series was not my favorite, but I am definately glad that I did. Charlotte is so funny, and I found myself rooting for poor Rothbury throughout the entire story. The outside characters were also interesting, providing background some hilarious scenes.
I definately recommend the book - even if you haven't read the first. It can stand assuradely stand alone.

There are a few inconsistencies in this book. However, it is well written, the characters are fleshed out. The story is fun and it just flows. I look forward to reading other books by Ms. Parker.

Well worth the wait...definitely a keeper!
The story between Charlotte and the Earl is interesting and a page turner. I did not expect to like the hero as in Parker's first book "At the Bride Hunt Ball" he comes across as a rake and unlikable. However, it is all a ruse to cover his true feelings. The Earl has loved Charlotte for years but does not feel worthy of her...in a twist of fate they end up believing they are married. It has the typical happy ever after ending, very gratifying.
