After reading the BAD LUCK BRIDES series, I was ready to settle back and enjoy another of the same genre. Wrong.

I knew we were in trouble when 4 elderly swashbucklers come upon a man napping in an arid spot in Texas, miles from the Gulf of Mexico. They want to hire him to steal some treasure. Gentleman Rafe Malone has to turn them down because (in part one - The Wedding Raffle see below) he turned in his thieving tools in order to keep his neck (out of the Texas Rangers noose).

Since Rafe has nothing to do but run his ranch, he escorts the has-been pirates to meet their granddaughter. Wavering between encouraging Rafe to join them and threatening to present him with hacked-off body parts (if he messes with their granddaughter); Rafe becomes intrigued.

Maggie St. John is all Rafe was expecting and more. Rafe finds that he is being asked to steal back the old pirates treasure so they can save their spa at Lake Bliss, Texas. Oh, and the swine who stole their property wants to marry Maggie.

If you have read any of the other reviews, some consider this to be one of the greatest novels of all time. Sorry, this book just didnt speak to me. It seemed more like a cartoon.
