Excellent. I laughed until I cried. Seriously, I was reading this book at bedtime and there was no way I could fall asleep at that point in the book. It was hysterical. If you like romance, you must read this.

Spinster Minerva Highwood is determined to make her way to Scotland to present her scientific findings to the Royal Geological Society. It should be easy to convince Lord Payne to accompany her since she knows he wants to get out of Spindle Cove as quickly as possible. Her plan involves making her family believe they are in love and pretending to elope while traveling 400 miles in a small coach. Colin adds his own conditions, sure they will dissuade Minerva from her crazy plan. But when she agrees, he has no choice but to accompany her. As they make their way, Minerva and Colin discover things they didn't count on...being held at gunpoint, a carriage stuck in the mud, and the sparks that fly between them.
This is the second book in Tessa Dare's Spindle Cove series. From the time Minerva and Colin were introduced in the first book, I knew their book would be special. I absolutely loved this story. There are romantic scenes, tender moments, and lost of laughs. I'm hoping to read the next book in the series soon since I have high hopes for it too. My rating: 5 Stars.
This is the second book in Tessa Dare's Spindle Cove series. From the time Minerva and Colin were introduced in the first book, I knew their book would be special. I absolutely loved this story. This book has got 2 great main characters in a ridiculous, implausible plot. I did enjoy it, some parts were really, really, funny and the process of their falling in love was touching and believable. To be fair, I think the author did the screwball comedy on purpose; after all the plots of "It Happened One Night" or "The Palm Beach Story" are also ludicrous. So I guess just put that aside and enjoy the roller coaster ride.

We are back to Spindle Cove, and Payne and Miranda are up. This is pure Tessa Dare a funny, very sexy, road trip caper.

Shes convinced this rake this unconscionable rogue is going to marry her sister. He doesnt love her and her sister deserves to be loved. He needs money, and she has a plan to keep him funded, until he comes into his inheritance, and she can get her work before the Royal Geological Society in Edinburgh. It is a good plan, a false elopement, whom will it hurt? Minerva knows this will ruin her socially, but no one really expects bookish unattractive Minerva to marry, do they? It is a good plan.
Payne reluctantly agrees but he has conditions, and is frankly surprised when Minerva agrees to his conditions. But at the last minute he balks. Minerva however is going to Scotland to present her paper with or without him. What is a gentleman to do? So Payne goes along, to keep Minerva safe.
What I expect from a Tessa Dare novel is here. Pure fun, laugh out loud dialogue and romantic settings. The thing I noticed in the first Spindle Cove book rings true here for me as well. They remind me of those lovely old movies that I love to watch on TV. 4 stars

This was just as good as the first one. Min and Colin are great together. I laughed out loud several times with Colin's tales as they are traveling to Scotland. Numerous bad things happen. Colin shares his greatest fear. I liked the post-script at the end about early women scientists. Recommended series.
Loved it. Great continuation from book one in this series. Read this book.
