This book confirms things that I had already suspected: that men often will sabotage women's efforts to lose weight either because they are afraid the weight is lost they become more desirable to other men, or because they think that the woman will expect them to drop their bad habits.
The concept that women will sabotage their own diets (besides the "I've already blown my diet for the day, I might as well splurge") is a little harder to comprehend but I suppose it does happen.
This book seeks to help couples understand the reason behind obesity, the problems that need to be overcome to deal with it, & the best ways to deal with it (and why it is not always best to lose the weight), or overcome it.
