I love Nero Wolfe and Archie. Not only is the mystery well plotted, the characters are very memorable. Very enjoyable book.

A seemingly innocent investigation of a missing person turns much more serious when the person is found in the local jail waiting execution on a murder charge. Good tight plotting.

Rex Stout writes great characters. I read his novels over and over again just to "hear" Archie Goodwin's voice. He's like a wise-cracking old friend. Even incidental characters are written with warmth, understanding and depth.

This book centers around a question- is a man currently on trial for murder a client's long-lost son, or isn't he? And if he is- what then? A great story, very credible and very well told.
