Beautiful book about a biologist and her relationship with an adopted barn owl. I thought I knew what this book would be about - I had heard the author interviewed on a radio show and it reminded me of a related book about a woman with a parrot. This went waaaaaay behind just learning to communicate or train a pet/companion animal. It was so much more, about discovering the soul of another creature/cross-species communication, about learning family secrets and keeping secrets, the lives of biologists, wild versus tame creatures, and the ups and downs of a life. The book has a lot of funny and sad moments. I liked the pictures of Wesley at various ages with Stacy, the funny chapter titles, and the overall organization of the book. Very well written for a first book, and one so personal/memoir.
