The plot was lively and fun, and the characters were witty, but it was approximately halfway through the book before Georgette and James even met up with each other (the first time really didn't count), which ended up being the deal breaker for me. I want a story about their romance, not their hazy memories of each other. Maybe the romance kicked in way later, but I didn't catch it as I skimmed through the rest. And I never get it when a hero thinks his lady "magnificent" when she shows her temper, which he mentioned more than once. It's beyond annoying. 2.5 stars for the engaging developments that take place in the first half.

Boring with a side of romance
Thats how I would describe this book in one sentence. Half of the book is worthless character development that goes nowhere and makes the main character, Georgette, a rather unlikeable prude. Now I am not saying that THAT little hiccup does NOT suit a lady of the mid 1800's, but I doubt that a woman like Lady Georgette Thorton is depicted would have a whore for a ladies maid or even be allowed to travel without a ladies escort. Also James is painfully chivalrous and I cannot understand where that comes from even with his poorly written, albeit brief glimpse of his history. To me this books speaks volumes of an inexperienced writer who did little to no research prior to typing up this book. Bravo to the author for presenting a completed work but it could have used a lot of tweaking before it's being published. All in all, I would not turn my nose up if Jennifer McQuiston published other books, but she would not be the first romance I would reach for.

I LOVED this book! Lots of fun and very little he loves me, he loves me not - which drives me crazy!

I received this book as a contest prize. What a great way to get acquainted with a new author. Just finished reading this new book by Jennifer McQuiston now Im busy scouting out her next book in this series. I have high hopes it will be as enjoyable as this one. Can't wait to read what she does to her secondary characters.

The plot was a little different from what Ive read in the past. Set in the mid-1800s, it was great fun reading the ups and downs and twists and turns the relationship between the hero and heroine took before the finally reached their HEA. With conversation like this: It has come to my attention that I may have engaged in someunfortunate conduct last night. Well, you know you just have to read more. Im not saying anymoreyou'll just have to read the book to find out what really happened in Scotland! Im not telling! LOL
