Really well written, entertaining book. It's primarily political, although like any good political book it hits on religion, technology, geography and other aspects of life. The author is certainly not a fan of Andrew Jackson (or James Polk), making them sound a little like a more recent president in their unilateral attempts to subvert the constitution. this author wrote some previous books on the Whigs of that era, so he may be considered an expert on the subject.
