I just finished The Ninja's Daughter by Susan Spann. Set in 1565 Kyoto, Japan. Excellent series. The author tied the cultural aspects of the day into the mystery. Start with book 1 though.

I've just finished  'Four Funerals and Maybe a Wedding' by Rhys Bowen.  Georgie and Darcy are finally (after 12 books) approaching their wedding day.  But of course murder and mayhem interfere.  I enjoyed this one as we were able to spend a lot of time with the secondary characters.  A fun read.

I am reading a really good mystery right now A Borrowing of Bones by Paula Munier. Set in present day Vermont. Good characters and love teh discussion of dogs.

I am reading The Satapur Moonstone (A Mystery of 1920s Bombay) :: Sujata Massey   Book one was excellent this is book two set in 1922 India. Great discussion of social issues of the time

Reading Murder at Crossways by Alyssa Maxwell. Having been to Newport, RI where the series takes place, I really enjoy all the info on the houses and families that lived there.

I just finished Days of the Dead by Barbara Hambley  Book 7 in the Benjamin January series. This book was just okay for me. It is set in Mexico which was great because there a not a lot of books set in Mexico, 1835. Interesting history, but it is just Benjamin and his wife. I miss is old New Orlean's friends.  I thought the plot was difficult to follow and perhaps a bit dragged out. Still love this series but will enjoy its return to New Orleans.

I'm about halfway finished with the last  of the DCI Baranaby series by Caroline Graham A Ghost in the Machine. Yes, her books are great mysteries, but they're also great novels. She creates memorable characters--deep with personalities. The setting is a quaint English village where suspects are found in every pub, abbey, and manor house. They are not short--the last one is over 300 pages. I only have the one that I'm currently reading as I don't keep books.

I've just discovered the Joe Pickett historical mysteries and two more to go until I'm caught up. It's a really good historical mystery series.

I finished A Ghost in the Machine by Caroline Graham; then I read A Grave Welcome by Blythe Baker. Now I'm reading A Fatal Grace by Louise Penny. I've got a long TBR list, so I'm good on books, but I'm always on the lookout for more.

I am enjoying Turning the Tide by Edith Maxwell. Set in 1888 Massachusetts.  Great series. Quaker midwife and suffragettes 

Just finished the 6th Joe Pickett mystery: For Deader or Worse by Sheri Cobb South. I'm really enjoying this historical mystery series which I just recently discovered.

I finished the first book in the Gaslight Mystery series by Victoria Thompson today. Sarah Brandt is a midwife in NYC in the late 1800s. When a family acqaintance is murdered, Sarah teams up with police sergeant Frank Malloy to solve the case. I've already ordered the second book in the series.

I started The Dark Vineyard by Martin Walker. It's the second in the Bruno, Chief of Police series.

Wow, it's been ages since I've popped in here. Something told me to take a look this morning so here I am. My reading has been minimal for at least a year now but I finally found a book that (I hope) gets me kick started again. I finished Thirteen: The serial killer isn't on trial. He's on the jury by Steve Cavanagh. This is definitely not a cozy but it certainly is a page turner. I have since ordered another book by this author, after thinking I wasn't going to order anymore books until I start reading some of those I've left sitting on my bookshelf. I couldn't help myself because I had to find out if this author is really that good or if it was just a fluke.

I'm rereading The Cat Who... series by Lillian Jackson Braun. The last time I read them was back in the 80s. I'm nearly finished with the first one. I'd forgotten how KoKo came to live with Qwilleran.

I'm reading The Child Finder by Rene Denfeld, very good.

Over the last few days, I've finished two mysteries: Poison in Jest by John Dickson Carr and Sworn to Silence by Linda Castillo. I'm going to start The Murder on the Links by Agatha Christie.

JD Carr published Poison in Jest in 1932, and it reads like it. I had a hard time getting through it. *It's on my bookshelf if anyone wants it. I'll throw in a second book for free.

Sworn to Silence is the first book in the Kate Burkholder series. The story takes place in Amish country in Ohio. A serial killer tortures and murders young women. Kate has her own secret about "The Slaughterhouse Killer" that keeps her from giving the case 100%. It is wish listed, so it's not available on my bookshelf right now.

Reading The Guardians by John Grisham 50 pages in and having time putting the book down!

I'm reading Penny for Your Secrets (A Verity Kent Mystery) by Anna Lee Huber. I like this historical mystery. Also just finished The Vicarage Murders by Faith Martin. I've read another series by her and both are well written. 

I'm half way through White Nights by Ann Cleeves. It's the second in her Shetland series. It's also wish listed, so I need to finish it and get it out.

I just finished rereading Love and Death Among the Cheetahs, a Royal Spyness Mystery. This is the most recent book of the series which is my favorite series. Sadly Rhys Bowen only puts one Spyness out each year which leaves me waiting at least until August 2020 for the next one.

I finished White Nights by Ann Cleeves yesterday. I posted it, and it's claimed already. I look forward to reading the rest of her books in the series. Last night, I started reading Murder in an English Village by Jessica Ellicot. It's Book 1 in the Beryl and Edwina series. It didn't work for me. It's wish listed, so I'm just going to post it. I'm going to read A Cubbable Woman by Reginald Hill next. I love the Daizel and Pascoe series on BBC (or Acorn or Britbox). It's Book 1 in the series, and it's also wish listed. I'll read it and post it by the end of the week. 

I finished A Clubbable Woman last night and immediately posted it on my bookshelf. It's already claimed . I'm now reading Book 1 in the Detective Ramsey series: A Lesson in Dying. I'll probably finish it tonight.

Well, I just finished another of Steve Cavanagh's books titled The Liar and it was also every bit as good as Thirteen. I think I've found my new favorite mystery/thriller writer. For someone who has been in a reading slump for over a year, I'm finding very hard to put down these books!

I am reading Singapore Sapphire by A. M. Stuart. Set in Singapore in 1910. I love different locations. Nice change from US or UK. Good so far
