I was going to read Lionel Shriver's We Need to Talk About Kevin (person with a disability) until I noticed these words on the cover: "a novel." Hardly a biography! So I changed that to a free choice, and am reading House of Stone (by Anthony Shadid). It was a bit of a challenge getting into it, but now I am completely hooked. Rose |

I worked on Bill Clinton's memoir a bit more. It's a serious trek, and politics is boring to me. I wish it were more about his actual life and not so much his political career, but I guess with someone like him it's pretty entwined. I really don't need to know the details of every primary and poll and election he has seen since his grade school days though. Last Edited on: 7/2/13 4:49 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

Hello - new to this forum. Anyway, I just finished A Fortunate Life - Robert Vaughn. Pretty interesting but could have done without the philosphy lesson and "what I learned" section. Liked the stories about Steve McQueen and all the Hollywood scoop. He seems like a pretty down to Earth person and not overly impressed with himself. However, it did lead me to another book. Nemesis - Peter Evans. It puts forth the theory that Aristotle Onassis had Bobby Kennedy killed. (although I'm not to that part yet - Mr. Vaughn said it in his book). WOW the Onassis' and Kennedy familes and their friends are seriously screwed up! Everyone sleeping with everyone else's husband/wife/friend/cousin and what not. When did they have time to do any actual work or anything. So this is a pretty good book, but I'm not liking any of the "players" in it. |
