This is the second book in Lorraine Heath's "Sins for All Seasons" series, which is following the same pattern as her "Scoundrels of St. James" series. Not that there's anything wrong with that-if you enjoyed those books, you'll probably be happy to read these. Both series revolves around a close-knit group of men, and one woman, who grew up together in extreme poverty. They all care for each other and protect each other, although they are not siblings by blood.
This book's heroine is tavern owner Gillie Truelove, the female of the group, and her hero is a Duke, so it's a cross-class romance. The equivalent book from the St. James series was "Surrender to the Devil", and that hero also was a Duke. So a bit of repetition in the formula! Still very enjoyable reading, and not quite as dark as the first book of the series "Beyond Scandal and Desire".
