Gray Godfrey and her husband, Paul, have returned to her hometown for the Christmas holiday. Meeting friends and family in a bar leads to trouble for both of them. Gray wakes up Christmas morning with a huge hangover and no memory of what happened the previous night. Paul never came to bed and isn't in the house. When Paul's rental car is found abandoned, Detective Nina Palmer starts asking questions. Why did Paul leave? Is he injured or dead? And why isn't Gray upset about his disappearance?

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Amy McFadden & Bahni Turpin. Both did a terrific job. But it didn't help the first 1/3 of the book which was alcoholic Gray justifying her drinking. I nearly gave up on the story at that point. Finally when Paul disappeared, the pace of the story picked up. We still had to put up with Gray guzzling everything in sight, but at least there was a story to go with it. I thought I had the mystery figured out, but there was a twist near the end of the book that I never saw coming. My rating: 3 Stars.

HOLY WOWZA....WHAT A BOOK!!

It's been a good while since it felt like a book knocked my socks off, but THIS BOOK KNOCKED MY SOCKS OFF!! This was my first P.J. Vernon book and it definitely won't be my last! I was thoroughly impressed with his writing, his characacters, his story...everything!

The story started out a tad slow, but it didn't take long to take off and throw your head back with intensity! And that ending...HOLY COW I DID NOT SEE THAT COMING!!

There were very intricate characters. None of them were really that likeable, but it didn't seem to distract from the book at all. It was known that Gray was a drinker from the very get-go, but all I kept going back to is WHY? You see an interesting relationship with her husband, sister, and mother throughout the story and you don't really grow to like any of them throughout!

When You Find Me was co-narrated, and I think that Amy McFadden and Bahni Turpin did a FABULOUS job with this book! Both of them are favorites of mine, and this book was no different! If you haven't listened to a title narrated by either of them, what are you waiting for? They are amazing!

Overall, I am super impressed with this book! It has left a lasting, HOLY CRAP moment with me and that's the best kind of book! I honestly can't wait to see what else P.J. Vernon has written! This book was THAT good! And it was just what I needed (hopefully) to get me out of my reading slump!

After page 75 I had to give up, from the beginning to page 75 was mostly about Gray's drinking problem but never saying why she had a problem, then her husband disappears and that goes on for pages with nothing moving forward, just not my kind of writing, poor writing
