I've read most of Ted Wood's Reid Bennett series. This has more action/adventure than the others. It has a forest fire with a difficult escape. Also has lots of bad guys coming at Reid [and Sam (the dog) and George and even Fred (the wife)] pretty much non-stop. Lots of shooting, fighting, and blood.
