McMurty, who has written some of my favorite novels, seems to go around the bend on this one -- while he's never been shy to eliminate major characters in his novels, in this one he has made sure that every character has some major life change -- it's almost as if he is having a chuckle writing the book. Still an interesting read, but not up to his previous work.
McMurtry's story are classic Texas lore. Hard to realise this tale started with The Last Picture Show.
A short read. Interesting. Conclusion to Duane's Depressed, one of my favorite McMurtry books.
