Extremely fascinating book that leaves you wanting to find out more about these figures in history. A historical novel illustrating some of the the underpinnings of modern-day psychology from the point of view of such names as Freud, Breur, and Nietzsche. An excellent read.
Gripping as a detective story, Yalom's novel puts into motion in their own world characters who changed the course of intellectual history in the West. A marvelous achievement. Diane Wood Middlebrook, author of "Anne Sexton."
