I was really amazed by this book! The author of this memoir displayed wit throughout her experience as a WAC during World War II, even when the experiences weren't at all humorous! I guess that's how she was able to make it through the war and remain sane! I felt like I was right there with her. When I finished the book, I discovered that she had a wonderful career after the war as a writer for National Geographic. She must have been one of the first "women libbers" before there was such a thing. I recommend it to anyone interested in the experiences of the WACs from first-hand knowledge. It definitely beats reading about it in a dry history book!
