In When All the World Was Young, Ferrol Sams manages to vividly portray the life of a young man as he struggles not only with medical school at Emory University, but also with life in the Army during WW II. Not only does Mr Sams weave an amusing yarn about this young man's adventures, he also shows a very deep understanding of how life's various experiences shape our thoughts and actions.
