Have we lost half our group?  Three votes is all for next month's read?  Only three of us still discussing Violet Eyes?   Where is everyone?  C'mon you guys, if you don't like the suggestions so far on the voting list for next month, suggest something else.  Please post, the fun is in the conversation.

I hadn't noticed that we lost so many people until I checked the voting list. Tis probably due to kiddos going back to school and such. Hopefully they'll all come back when real life calms down. There's always more action on this site during the colder months anyway so it was surprising that we kept the participation going through these warm months. Hang in there and hopefully we'll get some peeps back and maybe some new ones too.

I do add them, no one votes for mine crying  The problem with my choices is all the really good ones aren't readily available in the system, I've been through my huge TBR list and the pickins is slim and I'm not a big generic subject fan. I'm still here, just haven't been very interested in the choices.

It doesn't seem that many people actually read Violet Eyes, which is kinda weird cuz it got votes. Maybe they just didn't have time for discussing.

I think the issue has been people who had no intention of participating were voting on the list. It artificially inflated the number of votes and made it seem like a lot more people were going to join in. Also some might have read the book and not enjoyed it then thought there wasn't a point in discussing it.

OK. I read Through Violet Eyes. Sorry I haven't joined in the discussion. I intend to read Prodigal Summer (or at least try.) I have to finish one of my "bosom heaving" books first.

Lately I pass out when I hit the bed and there's no other time during the day. sad  I should have a little more time after the first snow.

I dunno if I'm gonna get to the Kingsolver book. I've read one other of hers and it was uber depressing and I'm just not really in a good place to delve into uber depressing right now.

I'm here.  I just ordered the sept book. I also have the cozy.   And as some of you know I am a closet romance reader.  hahah.

I wonder if this is a normal process of book clubs.  I like to think we could have a big enough following that regardless of the book, there would be enough people to discuss it each month.   For myself I don't think deep enough to answer a lot of the specific questions we answer. But I like to follow the discussions.

Hey Carole!  I have as yet to join in on any of the forums, discussions, etc.  Need some more info please.  Are you speaking of the "cozy" for Sept. or what?  I'd love to vote and hopefully find the book that is chosen but, I need a little direction.

Thanks!

Sandy

Sandy, we are reading Prodigal Summer by Barbara Kingsolver to read in the group discussion. There isn't a thread for it yet because the discussion starts on September first at which time either I or the person who suggested the book will begin a thread. We will be reading The Physic Book of Deliverance Dane in September to discuss in October. There is a list titled October voting list, there is a link to it in the thread with the same title, where you can add books and vote on the ones already on the list. The winner of that list will be the book we will read in October. I don't handle the cozy discussion so I can't tell you much about that one.

Sandy, Chris gave you the details on the main discussion.  The cozy is Fluke's Carrot Cake Murder to start in late September, Deb will lead the discussion.   Threads are started for each new vote, so just read through the forum to find the voting lists.  We read one or two books a month, not everyone reads every book.  Just join in where you want.

You don't have to go search for the books, we only choose ones that have plenty of copies for ordering from here.  That is the only rule for adding a book to the voting list.

for the info. Chris & Carole.  I just voted on the Oct. voting list for the #1 on the list...and a comment for you Chris.  Looking forward to discussing with those who join in.  I've never been in a book "club" discussion group before...ought to be interesting and fun.

Have a good week!

Sandy

Sandy, you can and should vote for all the books you are willing to read.  Then, we find out which one has the widest appeal.  We will all be adding books in the next couple of weeks and you can add a selection for consideration - the only rule is that there has to be enough (right now at least 9) copies in the system so we can all order it.  Voting is open until the 25th of September or so, so there will be plenty of opportunities to add a book and vote.  You can see how many copies of a book are in the system by adding it to your reminder list.  Welcome to the club!

I think I must have missed something.  I can't tell if I voted or not and the list is closed.  I'm still here, just been crazy at home lately.  I've read both Prodigal Summer and Carrot Cake Murder and am looking forward to the discussions of both!

Charlene I think you're looking at last months list. Look at the October let for the voting.
