ages upon pages of pseudoscientific explanations and stale dialogue clutter up Whisper of Evil, the newest in Kay Hooper's paranormal mystery series (after Touching Evil). Reluctant psychic Nell Gallagher never planned to return home to Silence, especially not to settle the affairs of her father, whom she hated, or to help solve a string of murders that has the local sheriff scratching his head. But before long, she teams up with her old high school flame, Max Tanner, to root out the killer. While the romantic tension between Nell and Max is strong, the book's action is virtually nonexistent. Instead, Hooper fills her story with unwieldy discussions of psychic powers, energy fields and electric brain impulses.

Great book. Keeps you in suspence till the end. Nell Gallagher has come home to Silence more than a decade after leaving one dark night with her own painful secrets. Past and present tangle in a murderer's vicious attacks, and to find the answers , Nell must call on her psychic skills. She must risk her own life and sanity, and regain the trust of the man she left behind.

Great book, with some Crime Drama thrown together with psychic powers to make a verrry interesting read! Kay Hooper has written a series of books with a task force of people with EXTRA SENSES, psychic and otherwise. It is ran by a man named Bishop. The great thing about these books, is that they do not need to be read in any particular order! All of the Kay Hooper/Bishop Series books I have read, are just fabulous!

THis is the first Kay Hooper I have read. At first I was not very intrigued because it seemed to get off to a slow start. But the story eventually got rolling with a full head of steam and I am glad I stuck it out. Good read!

This is another great Kay Hooper book that keeps you guessing until the very end. And twists and turns are throughout the book, not just the ending. Not too much romance to junk up the story and the blood and gore is at a minimum, focusing instead on the mystery itself. Highly recommend.

Someone is killing people in Silence and know one knows who the killer is. Nell returns home to settle her fathers estate. It is the first time she has been home in a long while and she does not know what to expect. Max is not thrilled to see her. In fact he would be thrilled to see the backside of her as she heads out of silence. Somehow they both get caught up in the hunt for the killer stalking the people of Silence.

This is a paranormal thriller and romance does take a back seat in the storyline. That is not to say that it is lacking either. A good story that has many twists and turns. You won't know who the killer is until the last moment (unless you cheat).

An excellent read! It's the 2nd in the trilogy but they are all stand alone books. A couple of characters appear in all Kay Hooper's Special Crime Unit books but it isn't at all confusing if you don't read them all or in any particular order.

Kay Hooper is awesome!!!

Someone is stalking the little town of Silence. Three victims have fallen to a killer's savage vengeance. Each of the dead men was a successful and respected member of the community - yet each also harbored a dark secret discovered only after his murder. Were their deaths the ultimate punishment for those secrets? Or something even more sinister?

Nell Gallagher has come home to Silence more than a decade after leaving one dark night with her own painful secrets. Forced now by family duty to return, she has also come home to settle with the past. But past and present tangle in a murderer's vicious attacks, and to find the answers she needs, Nell must call on the psychic skills that drove her away years before. She must risk her own life and sanity, and regain the trust of the man she left behind so long ago. For the killer she seeks is seeking her, watching her every move, preying upon her every vulnerability - and already so close she'll never see death coming...

I have not yet read the Whisper of Evil by Kay Hooper, but if it's anything like the other books in the Bishop series, I'll give it 5 stars, just like the ones I've read. There are 12 now and I've read 5 of them. Each has been impossible for me to put down once I read the first few pages.

Nell Gallagher returns to her hometown of Silence, LA to help solve a rash of murders. She has her own painful past, including the lover she left at seventeen, to deal with. This book is part of Hooper's "Evil" trilogy and her Bishop paranormal FBI series. Not the best of the bunch, the mystery is a bit disappointing and the romance was quite stale.
