Wow- I read some of the smart chick books so I knew I liked this author, but this book exceeded my expectations. A masterfully written suspense/mystery novel that has the main character uncovering the secrets of her past. Full of rich imagery of the Louisiana bayou and its inhabitants, I read this book straight through and didn't want it to end. Definitely recommended.

This story is full of family secrets and intrigue. Very well written. I especially liked the subtle yet poignant moments of faith laced within the text. At times perplexing and suspenseful. Highly reccomended.

I absolutely loved this book. Just when you think you have it figured out, a new twist putting a whole new complexion on the story. Even though it starts out kind of slow, don't give up on it, it's worth every minute you spend reading it. If you like this author, this is one of her best.

Having lived with her aunt in New York for over 20 years after the death of her mother in Louisiana, Miranda receives information that she is needed by her families estate manager to return to Louisian to be given a message that is for her ears only by the dying caretaker. She arives just prior to his death to learn of the secret of the gaurdians of which she is one. Unfortunately, he dies prior to telling the full tale and Miranda goes on a hunt for the remainder of the story. She arives in the Bayou to find the estate is much more grand, a full three story mansion, than she was lead to believe and there are many secrets more than just the message of the gaurdian. As she explores her heritage, her life becomes endangered. This is a great mystery and is full of the lovely mystic of the bayou country.

Miranda an art restorer in in a NEW York Art museum is married to Nathan, has a 5 year old daughter named Tess and is 32 years old. She was raised by herAunt Janet and ignored by her father, Richard. Her mother is dead. She gets a call from her parents home from a caretaker Willie who is dying. She goes to see him and her life is turned upside down. She is not who she thinks she is. The mystery of her life unravels and no one except her husband and daughter are who she thinks they are. A very interesting but logical twisting mystery with a small Christian focus to it. I could not put it down because I never had any idea what would happen next.
