Glass has succeeded again with many characters and stories that converge into one. This a great book that lived up to the standards she set with The Three Junes.

I had so much trouble getting into this book. There was just too much going on, too many different characters and stories. I have loved everything else I have read by this author, but did not like this. I didnt like the main character, and found it hard to sympathize with any character in the book.

I had no trouble at all following the character's in this book. Maybe it's because I can adapt to different techniques of writing..IDk....I thought it was a very good book! Thumbs up to Julia!

I enjoyed this book quite a bit. It was very well-written with varied and detailed characters that were overall likable. The structure was a bit frustrating at times since the story switched perspectives and made forward jumps in time, leaving the reader to wonder about lost story threads for a long while (this was particularly true towards the end). Largely, through, it was basically the story of a marriage. It also had the strange effect of making New York City feel like a small town, with the way the characters' lives all intersected.

I read this book as part of a book club. Overall, I really enjoyed the book. It starts off slow, but Glass does a great job of developing the characters. The book also hits a lot of themes that are good for book club discussion.

ENJOYED THIS ONE.
I really enjoyed this book. Was it as awesome as Three Junes? Not in my opinion. But it's still very good, and I recommend it. The best part was probably that Fenno reappears in this book, and I deeply love Fenno. My main "eh, not so great" moment with this book is there were several points of view, all going on in tandem. When I turned the page to the next chapter, I wasn't sure who I was getting: Greenie, Walter, Saga, or Alan. The reason it didn't completely turn me off was she roundly develops each narrator, and they have distinctly different voices and narration styles. Plus, it was genuinely an interesting story, where no one character could be considered the one in the right--which is how it often is in life. It was, however, a bit difficult to find a flow with this book because of the constant narration shifts. It still drove me to track down her next novel, which I'm about to dive into right now.
Even more enjoyable if you first liked "Three Junes", as characters from there make their appearance in this book - but either way, a wonderful story, really enjoyed this
I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked this book. I really got involved in each character and was anxious to see how they all ended up.

I had high hopes for this after Glass' wonderful "The Three Junes". Thankfully this lived up to her first novel. Complex, well-developed characters and an engrossing plot.
An epic story of relationships and the choices people make.
Good follow up to first book, The Three Junes.
