The book is not what you think, in my estimation it is conviction of Black men who have chosen to be in a relationship with White women. While I am not necessarily a supporter of mixed race relationships, I'm all for people doing whatever they want to do. This author author is pompous, arrogant, extremely judgemental, and has an inflated sense of self-importance. He comes across as judgemental and homophobic. If you're wondering why I even read it, it was a book club selection and I tried to be a good sport. Please take it off my hands, I don't want it on my shelf :-).

I found this quite fascinating. I was expecting a review of qualities that are different in white women that attract black males. This is not what the author discusses. Rather he goes into the history of the terrible abuse of African-Americans which was a real education for me. That he used that to explain why black males prefer white females. A coup it would seem since historically white was considered better than black--dating a white woman enhanced one's status.
As a woman I am attracted to men based on their character traits, interests, values, etc-not for status-enhancing or money, etc. According to the author, this is not the reason his black male cohorts find white women attractive--not interested in them for their character qualities, intelligence, interests, etc.
