Part-Native American, part-Englishman Alex Blackthorne is caught off guard by Jocelyn Woodbridge. She is nothing like the proper, quiet English misses he has met since arriving in London.
Daughter of a preacher, Jocelyn is far too intelligent to capture the tons eligible bachelors. Older, smarter and wilder than many, she never allows her heart to rule her head; until she meets Alex.
As these misfits in the stiff upper crust world of the ton get together, they cut a swath through Regency England, experiencing all the city has to offer. But as the winds of war blow harder, Jocelyn and Alex must also find where their loyalties lie.
As always Ms. Henkes meticulous research is evident. There is no minor detail nor real historical personage left out of this light and amusing tale. Readers of Regency romances will no doubt savor the rich descriptions and enjoy Alex and Jocelyns escapades, as well as all the action and events that become an intricate part of the romance. SENSUAL

Alex Blackthorne is sent from America to England by his parents to visit his mother's aristocratic family and tame his roguish behavior. There he meets Jocelyn Woodbridge, preacher's daughter, and the two become friends. Though Joss is in love with Alex, he fails to see the woman behind the drab clothing, and he continues on with his wild ways, bewitching English women with his American Indian heritage.
Circumstances lead Alex to marry Joss to form a union in name only. Alex finds difficulty in keeping to the original terms of the bargain when he uncovers the beautiful woman that he has married. Their marriage must endure further tests as they return to America, and Joss meets some of Alex's Indian relatives.
The depth of these two main characters makes this a very enjoyable read. Neither hero or heroine are perfect-both are very likeable, human characters with believable flaws. Though Joss' initial appearance is rather dowdy, Alex finds that he is attracted to her anyway and later discovers that it wasn't her beauty initially that drew him to her, but her compassionte character, a rare find in a genre where beauty is almost everything. Readers will definitely want to explore LOVE A REBEL...LOVE A ROGUE, the story of Alex's parents.

A gawky preacher's daughter Jocelyn Angelica Woodbridge was hardly the type to incite street brawls, much less two in one day. Yet ever since a dashing American saved her from an mob Joss's thoughts turned must impure. Son of an American Indean and an English aristocat, Alexander Blackthorne had been sent to England for some "civillizing". When a marriage of Convenience forced them togather ,Joss knew she would need more than prayer to make a loving husband of her Wicked Angel.
The story line was very interesting. I did have trouble identifying with Jocelyn the preacher's daughter at the first but as the story progressed, she kind of grew on you.
Alexander Blackthorne (son of an American Indian and an English aristocrat) went a little wild when he arrived in London with his womanizing and gaming which didn't make me think much of him at first. He did improve though. He was always a gentleman with Joss. She wore thick glasses and dressed poorly. He liked her spirit but thought of her a just a friend. I am not going to spoil the story by telling you what happened. A good read. Some history and some of the minor characters are actual historical figures.

Another great Henke novel.
ENGAGED IN HEAVEN'S WORK...
A gawky preacher's daughter, Jocelyn Angelica Woodbridge was hardly the type to incite street brawls, much less two in one day. "Holy Hannah" as those of the ton called her, would much rather nurse the sick or reform the fallen. Yet ever since a dashing American saved her from an angry mob Joss's thoughts has turned most impure.
ENJOYING A SINNER'S PLEASURES...
The son of an American Indian and an English Aristocrat, Alexander Blackthorne had been sent to England for some "civilizing." But the only lessons he cared to learn were those offered by travers and trollops. When a marriage of convenience forced Jocelyn and Alex together, Joss knew she would need more than prayer to make a loving husband of her...WICKED ANGEL
