I think this was the craziest book I've ever read. We have an evil hottie, a good hottie, a fabulous cupcake baker, a wanna-be witch (and salesclerk), a one-eyed cat, a loony medieval guy and a crazy monkey. Oh and let's not forget the sin of gluttony.

There is a set of seven stones that represent the 7 sins and corrupt whomever holds them. The mystery is finding the first stone - the gluttony stone. The funny part is when Lizzy gets her hands on it and she can't stop eating or thinking of eating. This was hilarious and laugh out loud funny. I can't wait until the series gets to the sin of lust. Lizzy has it bad for the good hottie, Diesel. So far she's held off jumping him but given the way she reacted to the stone of gluttony, that won't last long if she gets her hands on it.

I really liked Diesel even though he is a serious alpha male and has to be in charge of everything. He likes Lizzy too and his reaction when she's eating everything in sight is priceless and he is so patient with her. Kinda seems out of character for this badass but it definitely works for him.

Had a lot of recycled motifs from the Stephanie Plum and other Janet Evanovich books - kooky secondary characters, off-scene deaths, fires, crazy animals, smelly accidents, gluttony, sexual tension, sexy cars, snappy comebacks, mild mystery plot. Felt like reading a Stephanie Plum book, but without the guns/police and instead with a supernatural authorities theme. I'd have rather had another installment of the Plum series, this was just so-so. I started skimming to get past some of the antics, wanted to finish it off, not sure if I will read the next book in the series.

Did not like this latest book. Couldn't find a plot or story line--it was nonsensical and the story focused way too much on the monkey. I love Janet Evanovich and the Stephanie Plum series, but Wicked Appetite was a total waste for me.

If you liked the Stephanie Plum series, you like this one! This first book is about the sin of gluttony, and the crazy forms it takes as Lizzy (think Stephanie Plum revisited)gets possession of it's effects in her attempt to find the charms that lead to the stone. It's not the plot - which is weak and predictible - that make this a good read, but rather the humor, which had me laughing out loud at times. It's a fun, take-your-mind-off-things book. As in the SP books, there is the funny girlfriend- side-kick and the 2 hunky guys, one good and one evil. You'll notice tons of similarities between the 2 series, but what the heck, it's just-for-fun, quick reading.

Wicked Appetite (The Unmentionable, #1) Janet Evanovich
Lizzy Tucker inherited an old house in Salem Massachusetts. There she takes on a job as pastry chef where she plans on leading a nice comfortable life.

Once there she comes in contact with a man named Desiel. he is on a mission and Lizzy is about to find out. He needs her help in stopping his cousin Gerwulf Grimoire. Gerwulf is set on finding the seven stones, that represent the seven deadly sins. The owner of each stone has a special power, and several of the owners end up dead.

Lizzy soon finds she is the key to finding the final stone, and she must team up with Diesel to stop Gerwulf. Fast paced fun magical read. Quite different from what i have read from Ms. Evanovich, but she pulls it off perfectly. I look forward to more in this series.

Different from the Stephanie Plum novels but Ms. Evanovich hits a home run and made me laugh and wonder about the hero and what she would do next all the same. No cars blew up but plenty were ruined only in a completely unexpected way. A very entertaining read.

This book centers around Diesel, a hotty from the In between plumb series. He is a bounty hunter for magical creatures gone rogue. He has always been magical, a hottie, and smells like cookies. It is nice to see him get his own series. It looks like he might even find true love in this series. It will be interesting to find out. It is similiar to Janet's other series, but cut her some slack, it is the same character and same author. I liked all the characters even the bad guys.

The first in a new series by Janet Evanovich, starring Diesel, who pops into the 1/2 numbered Stephanie Plum books.

This book was so-so. It felt like a re-working of the Plum novels but with a slightly paranormal twist. Diesel still works with Unmentionables, and this time instead of trying to capture one, he's working with Lizzy, a baker in Salem who has the ability to find empowered/magical objects. I liked Lizzy and Diesel's chemistry, the banter between them wasn't too much or too little.

I did like the premise of the book, to find the Stones of the 7 Deadly Sins, and they are looking for the Gluttony stone. Some of it was pretty funny when Lizzy started to crave everything in sight. Carl the monkey makes an appearance and there was WAY too much about him in the book.

Worth checking out the next book, but it wouldn't be a keeper for me. Evanovich is relying too much on her style of writing the Plum books, and this is definitely a spin-off, as the writing style and characters are so close to her others.

Amazing! I have rarely been so entranced by a book I read it in just a day and a half. I could not put this down and loved every minute of it. The author gets you involved and from the beginning to the end, you want to see what will happen between Lizzy and Diesel. You hope, then the book ends and you have to wait for the next book. Very good read.

Wicked Appetite is the first in a new series by Janet Evanovich. Some readers might be familiar with her character Diesel who appeared in the Stephanie Plum series, the Plum books between the numbers. Diesel a man of mystery heads to Salem Massachusetts to find a woman Lizzie who will help him locate magical objects. But Diesel is not the only person looking for these magical objects, his cousin Wulf is also looking for the objects and doesnt have good intention in his use of them. Trouble seems to follow Lizzy and Diesel has his hands full protecting her.

Wicked Appetite has a very similar vibe to the Stephanie Plum series. Lizzie narrates the story from first person point of view. Her life starts to get crazy when Diesel walks into the bakery. She becomes the reluctant owner of a one eyed cat, a monkey Carl and she can't seem to dodge a hunky, mystery man. Even her best friend starts thinking she is a witch and tries to cast spells. Of course these spells go awry.

I think that if you are a fan of the Stephanie Plum books then you will like her new series. As far as the romance goes there is no love triangle in this series. Diesel and Lizzie are attracted to each other, but there is a complication that will make a relationship difficult. I foresee this complication as a way for Evanovich to draw out the romance in this series, which could potentially be a problem for romance fans. However, I am willing to give this series another a try, after all the writing is fast paced and funny.

I loved this book from start to finish. Lizzy is a blast and the appearance of Diesel (from the Between the Numbers, Stephanie Plum books) is as hunky as ever add the dark side's Wulf and it's non stop paranormal fun with Carl the moneky thrown in for good measure. I can't wait to read the next one.

I was wondering how this book would compare to the Stephanie Plum series. From the beginning, you feel like a part of the team - trying to help Elizabeth with all of her bizarre struggles. Enter the dark, mysterious Diesel who lends a calming, somewhat charming effect to Elizabeth's problems. Carl the monkey, is cute, funny and adds a bit of quirkyness to everyone's lives. No dull moments for this group! Both my husband and I enjoyed this first book and look forward to the next book in the series.

I hated this book and was mad at myself for wasting time reading it. I love the Stephanie Plum books, although they are becoming a bit trite too, but his was too silly. I didn't care about the characters, didn't understand if there was a message in the 7 sins, and kept wondering what is the point of this book? I don't think there was one.

I'm a huge Janet Evanovich fan and the Stefanie Plum books are some of my favorites in recent years. With that being said, I just about hated Wicked Appetite. It was silly, so similar to the Stefanie Plum series but not nearly as good or as funny. Just plain stupid at times. I kept plowing through it trying to think "this is cute" but in the end, I didn't even finish the last 40 pages because I considered this a big waste of my time. I STRONGLY recommend getting this one from the library before wasting your money (or even your credits) on it. Sorry!

This book was boring. A lot of the same items from the Stephanie Plum series are here: mysterious hot guy, tracking down weirdos, explosions, fast food, but without the attention to detail. There are kookie friends, but not enough friends and they're not all that kookie. The main character's name is Lizzy, but I don't remember her last name or back story or really anything about her. I guess she's a struggling cookbook writer, but that doesn't really lead to dynamic tension. It's a fast read, but there's really no point.

This book was so weird I'm not sure what to make of it. The writing is good that is so not what the problem is. It just plays out like one big spoof book. Its almost like at the end she's going to wake up and have had a fever dream. I will say that this is the first book by Janet Evanovich I've ever read so I have no clue if this is just the way she writes or she was trying something new. Having said that I think is book was just totally unbelievable. If I could go back I would read her other books first that way I would have some idea as of what to expect and would have gotten to know Diesel.

Im not saying you shouldnt try the book because if you love her other books by all means go ahead and read it you might love it. Id suggest checking with your library first instead of buying. I might check out the next in the series but only to see how much weirder the series gets.

Not a great read. I was disappointed in the story line. It was too predictable. A lot about the Monkey "Carl"--What his story? How does Diesel know "Carl"? If there is another book, I hope it isn't as fragmented and ties together these random pieces.

Lizzy is not equal to Stephanie Plum in pure laugh-out-loud humor, but still a quick sometimes amusing read. Throw together the usual mix of zany characters, a convoluted plot, and titillating sexual tension, and there you have. I've Wish Listed the second installment, so I guess I'm sucked in once again.

I used to LOVE the Stepanie Plum novels, but got lost after Lean Mean Thirteen. Character relationships just seemed to stop, same stories over and over.
I decided to try Janet Evanovich again with this series, and I am happy to report that I really enjoyed this book. The Diesel/Plum books were okay, but I felt like this Diesel series had better flow. I liked the chararcters, they were zany and fun but seemed fresh. I am looking forward to the next book in this series!

I love the Stephanie Plum series and what Diesel added to that series so I was truly looking forward to the Diesel series. Sadly, this book was a disappointment. It has its good points, such as the relationship between Lizzy and Diesel, but the Lizzy's sidekick, Glo, seemed like a forced character. Not only that, but she's downright stupid and I grimaced each time she reappeared in the book with her book of spells that don't work.

I might give a second book a chance but do not anticipate that this series is one I'll be hanging on to.

I really liked this book. however, a lot of the characters seem like remakes of the Stephanie Plum characters. The lead female, the somewhat mysterious but yummy male lead who helps get her out of trouble, and the wacky but well-meaning "sidekick". Nevertheless, I will continue to read Janet's books.

If you enjoy Stephanie Plum and Alexandra Barnaby (Janet Evanovich's other heroines) you'll like Lizzie too. The author somehow manages to write in a manner that is light-hearted while being intelligent. I'm not a fan of the supernatural genre, but the author handles it in a way that is enjoyable (not dark). This is a book that is hard to put down because it's such a fun read!

If Janet Evanovich were not a New York Times Bestselling Author I suspect this book would have shared the same fate as Elizabeth Tucker's idea for a recipe book. Rather amusing story, though I can't belive I wasted my time reading it!

Cute story. I think J.E. could be onto a new series with this one. What I don't get is why/how Diesel suddenly became magical. I would almost prefer totally new characters.
And I cannot believe she allowed this book to be published as a hardcover. It would make a wonderful softcover book deserving of hype. But if I paid 27.00 for this book I would be extremely disappointed! That's my opinion.

Classic Evanovich - it's hard to get a better read.

Life in Marblehead has had a pleasant predictability, until Diesel arrives. Rumor has it that a collection of priceless ancient relics representing the Seven Deadly Sins have made their way to Boston's North Shore. Partnered with pastry chef Lizzie Tucker, Diesel bullies and charms his way through historic Salem to track them down, and his criminal mastermind cousin Gerewulf Grimorie. The black-haired, black-hearted Wulf is on the hunt for the relic representing gluttony. Caught in a race against time, Diesel and Lizzie soon find out that more isn't always better, as they battle Wulf and the first of the deadly sins.

I love the Stephanie Plum series so if I want to read a Stephanie Plum type novel, I will just read one that Stephanie, Lula and the gang are in. This one reads just like a Stephanie Plum novel but without the characters I have come to expect. I thought Diesel was OK when he first showed up in a Stephanie Plum novel but he doesn't hold my interest long enough for his own story.
