I really liked this book, but there was a lot wrong with it. For one, the ending battle was a little hard to follow â something I've noticed in a couple of the other books in this series as well. Banks also threw in a lot of extraneous history and geography lessons in this one, which I kind of just skimmed over. Throughout this series, I've been really impressed with Banks' continuity, and I don't know if it's because this is the eighth book in a row I've read, but I'm starting to pick up some inconsistencies with her mythology. And her "back from the dead" theme, which has happened to several main characters now, seems a little too convenient. This ending was a little heavy on the cheese, as well. But overall, I enjoyed it, and I'm really loving this series.
