New York Times bestselling author Carla Neggers does it again with another non-stop action, romantic suspense. Bestselling author of Abandon, and Cut and Run, she hits a homerun with her new edge-of-your-seat whodunnit.
Abigail Browning is a Boston police officer who has not been able to get past the murder of her husband, Chris, seven years ago on their honeymoon in Maine. The crime has remained unsolved, even with all the tips and leads received over the past years. On the seventh anniversary of her husband's death, Abby receives a telephone call that she can't ignore. Another tip, but this time the mysterious caller states that the answer to Chris's murder resides at his home in Maine.
Abby returns to Maine and begins to investigate once again the murder of her husband. While there, she reconnects with an old friend of Chris', Owen Garrison. His driveway connects with Abby's, so they see each other fairly often. Soon, both begin to open up about their feelings to one another. A slow but budding romance blooms as the investigation progresses, trying to catch the killer before he strikes again.
I never did figure out who the killer was until toward the very end. A wonderful story that kept me guessing, with believable characters that I became to know well. I would recommend this to any romance or mystery lover.

I have been hooked on CN's books ever since I read the first one. Of her romantic suspense books (I do not read romance!), I have read all of them. She is an extremely talented writer.

Four days after Abigail Borwning's wedding, her life changed unimagineably .... her husband was shot, meeting his death along the rocky Mount Desert Island coast. Was is a random act of violence, or could someone have wanted him dead?
That's the question that has haunted Abigail, now a homicide detectie, for the past 7 years. Determined to find her husband's killer, she returns to the island after receiving an anonymous tip.
Great book! Believable characters ... nice setting ... and full of surprises.

Not a heavy-duty suspense, but it does keep you guessing and holds your attention. A good book and an easy read.
This is the 1st in Carla Neggers new series. I couldn't put this book down as it was such a good read. Mystery, Murder, Romance...what more could you ask for. I never did figure out 'who dunnit' and was surprised when I finally did find out. I've already started book 2 of this series and it is proving to be just as good.
Fairly good book. Gave it 3 stars.
I found this to be a page turner. Didn't want to put the book down.
good book, great plot
This was an okay read. It was light and mindless.

Well written mystery about a widow's search for answers to her husband's death.
This was a great book. Keeps you on the edge of your seat trying to figure out who the killer is. Interesting and suspenseful with some romance thrown in. You can't go wrong with Carla Neggers.
Reading this one, you'll be on the edge of your seat from beginning to end . . .

A who-dunnit to the end. 4 or 5 star rating.

More of Carla's suspense and romance, keeps you interested until the last page.
THE WIDOW was just a pretty generic murder mystery with a convoluted plot full of red herrings, but no engaging substance.
My first read from the author and probably my last. The writing style itself was very cliche and I lost interest in Abigail and Owen and their quest to figure out who'd killed Abigail's husband.

I enjoyed this one. The suspense and romance is good. The killer was a surprise for me. Highly recommended.
