I loved it!
I was so confused by the wife and ex-wife, but I loved the confusion!
You think you know what's going on.
You think the ex is a jealous bitch.
You know nothing!
Nothing is what you think.
You have no clue to what's going to happen!
I was blown away by the ending.

I Definitely recommend this one!

"The best domestic suspense novel since Gone Girl."

First off, when I see this comparison, it's usually the kiss of death to a book for me. But, "they" got it right this time. This was an absolutely mind blowing tale. I can't say enough how much I thoroughly enjoyed it.
And I must say, all the assumptions I made (even after reading the blurb) wrong oh so wrong! This twisty tale will knock you on your butt so many times. Just as soon as you think you have something figured out-nope! you will be wrong.
I actually listened to this as an audio book. I only listen for about three hours a week while driving to visit the grand babies and have found that only suspense thrillers are acceptable (for me) when driving. This book kept me sitting in the car long after I had arrived and once home had to finish it before going to bed. Not only will I be one of the first in line to buy tickets when this is released as a movie but I intend to "reread" it in print and see if I pick up on any of the twists before the reveal. A very satisfying read!

This is good reading. I recently read Liv Constantine's THE LAST MRS. PARRISH and there were many similarities in this book, but it did take a completely different direction. I would definitely recommend.

I picked up this book and thought "I'll just see if I like this." About 50 pages into the book, I realized that I had gone more than a few pages to decide and was totally sucked into it! So cleverly written with twists and turns in the plot. The main character, Nellie, is heartbroken and divorced from her husband, Richard, after he falls for a younger woman. We learn about Nellie's college days and who she was before she met her husband as well as how their marital relationship grew and finally fell apart. I don't want to give too much of the plot away but I will just say that it definitely is a thriller of a story. Absolutely loved this!

This is a first class psychological thriller. What a well written, suspenseful page turner of a book! Recommend Highly!

Not so long ago I had the opportunity to read the first 4 chapters of this book. I was so intrigued I just "had" to get my hands on this one to read it all. So... many thanks to the authors / St. Martin's Books / Netgalley for the advanced digital copy.

My first thought when finishing this book was OH WOW! I sat for a few minutes and then I went back though, flipping pages, stopping at things I thought I knew .. only to find out how wrong my first assumptions had been.

This is such as incredibly well written story ... twists and turns I didn't see coming, could not have guessed where all this was going to take me. And the ending is fantastic!

I only wish I could rate this one with more than 5 stars. It's absolutely one of the best I've read in a really, really long time.

Because I was warned not to assume anything, I began looking for clues and figured out fairly early about who was who, Nellie and Vanessa. BUT wait I am only 1/3 of the way through the book there must be more ! Oh there was! and then there was more. It is not even over til the last page. Lots of layers of the past, lots of deception.

I still could not give it 4 stars though. Not as good as Gone girl nor The Girl on the train, but close. I had a friend who listened to it and liked it a great deal as well.

I listened to this on audio and found it to have a slow start but takes off midway. It's a psychological suspense story about marriage and betrayal that keeps you guessing. The plot is a twisty plot with a scary love triangle and you don't know who to trust as the narrators are unreliable. The characters lack depth and you can not assume anything as you will be proven wrong. The novel is a bit confusing and convoluted in parts and it's not until the epilogue that you finally find out what has been going on. I would recommend this novel to those who love psychological suspense.

Another book that is hard for me to review when it's confusing all the way through

The first half of this book was so boring and confusing I almost gave up, I didn't give it up but I did start skimming to get to what is actually going on, by part 2 I was just nearly bored to tears

So my questions might be spoilers--who is Vanessa, who is Nellie and who is Emma? It takes a long time to get all this clear in your mind and when you do then you wonder 'why is it written like this?' so I didn't like that part of the writing, it doesn't take much to figure out what is happening but yet it's written in a confusing way, too many authors are trying to make it a 'gone girl' or 'girl on the train' and I didn't like either of those, but it does resemble the movie 'sleeping with the enemy' with Julia Roberts

So I'm stuck between a 2 and 3 star rating, I didn't really like it that much but yet it might be worth someone's time
