This is a fascinating book about a professional drifter who finally settles down when he falls in love ... with wild parrots he discovers living on Telegraph Hill in San Francisco. This is a love story with a protagonist many people will find difficult to identify with and then come to appreciate. You'll learn a lot about wild parrots, and probably never look at the homeless quite the same, either. Enjoy.
Gets tad boring in spots, but it's fun story. It a different type of love story...
a terrific true story about a man trying to find himself, written by the man himself.
This is about a drifter, a homeless man who ends up living on the famous Telegraph Hill in SF and who starts feeding the wild parrot population there. It soon encompasses his whole life. Really, pretty interesting, though there were times when I thought I didn't want to know any more about parrots. But the philosophy and thoughts about anthropomorphizination (assigning human qualities and emotions to animals) and some interesting philosophical thoughts about that. I lived in and around SF for 30 years and it's always fun to read about places you know and legends you have heard.
