The illustrations in this book are very detailed and so life like. This is a touching story is about a young boy who lives next to a home for the elderly. The generational differences add to this story. One of the women who lives in the home has lost her memory. The child doesn't know what a memory is and asks the others what a memory is. The answers he receives tells us a lot about these men and women and their memories both happy and sad. My only fault with this story is that the when the child puts together a gift for the woman who lost her memories she seems get get some of her memories back. This could give a grandchild the wrong message if a grandparent had a form of dementia.

This is one of those children's books that both kids and adults will love. It is special. The story shows the love and respect a young boy has for the elderly people living in a retirement home and the love and respect they have for him. It is not a tear jerker. It is uplifting and sweet and reminds me every time we read it how we are all created in God's image. Something this world seems to have forgotten.
