While this is not a style of book that I would ever pick up to read, I just finished listening to this book on audio and it is by far the most captivating story that I've ever heard!

I didn't think I would enjoy this very much, but I thought it was incredible! At first glance it's a story about women and their relationships, but it is SO much more than that. If you like historical fiction, this has a story within a story that is captivating. The narrator is awesome -- she does a Russian accent that is totally believable. I heartily recommend this one!

This is an incredible story. It caused me to do some research on my own about Leningrad during the war. It was so heartbreaking as to be almost unbearable. But what a great story. It definitely stays with you.
