I didn't care for this book. The subject was not what I usually read. Why it was called winter people I do not know. Back woods people are what it is about and how they deal with issues like murder among them. Kind of a feud between 2 different families.

Set in the mountains of North carolina. Author is a native of NC. It is a story of two men and a woman. It begins with a man and woman coming out of the woods and met by a woman with a butcher knife hidden in her skit and a secret in her heart. Made into a movie. Very good book about the depression and the Blue Ridge Mountains.
