A kick-ass first novel by Tom Perotta. It's about love - the familiar lov the protagonist Dave, drifting through life at 31, has with his girlfriend of 15 years, Julie, to whom he spontaneously proposes, accidentally; the somewhat illicit new love he finds with young would-be poet, Gretchen; the love he has for his nerdy dysfunctional best friend Glen; and most of all the love he has for the Jersey wedding-band in which he plays guitar, The WIshbones. I found the characters well formed and believable, and the ending satisfying. Read it if you've ever been in a band or wanted to be, or if you enjoy a good story.
Another book given me by a friend, but the story really did not appeal after I started it.
Some men never quite grow up. Appealing characters. Funny and insightul book.
