Wonderful story, great read for young people. Ms. McCaffrey does it again. Just another example of her superb ability to tell a great story.
A short novella, this was an interesting if bland story that was more of a character study of a family in a time of war. With her father away in battle, young Tirza and her twin brother Tracell have to help their mother, the village healer, care for the refugees and defend their mansion as they come of age. Nothing great, it was nevertheless an introduction to characters that would be interesting for a longer story.
A neat little book with lovely illustrations. 87 pages.
