I thought this book would be fascinating given the premise, the time frame and the prominent people involved; however, I had difficulty maintaining an interest given its overload of details. Parts of this book read like a textbook. The story that could have been mesmerizing became mired in too many facts. I admit to skimming portions of this lengthy book to focus on the human interest paragraphs. I am certain that the research was extensive and it is well written, but it just didn't hold my attention. I am grateful to LibraryThing for the opportunity to read and review this book as an ARC.
