I'm not sure how much I really liked this book. The premise is good, and the author has come up with a world that isn't a cookie cutter of a lot of fantasy novels out there today. That being said, while I'm certainly no prude, I found the obscenities and some of the language rather crass. At times I didn't feel like I was reading about adults trying to save the world from demons, but watching some cheap high school show where the kids curse to bring some sense of shock value to the viewer. It was just out of sync with the slick, flashy style of the characters the author was trying hard to instill.
And the product placement was out of bounds. There were more name brands dropped than necessary. I watch TV for advertisements, thanks anyway! Between the brands for cars, clothing, cosmetics and others, I'm surprised there was time for demon fighting at all. A little less name dropping and the author and proofreaders may have noticed the errors of having Camille living on different floors of the house throughout the book.
The characters were okay, but it took some time to warm up to them. The main character is WAY too full of herself, and while I'm hoping it's because she's half Faerie and that's just how they are, it was real turn off after a while.
There are two other books in this series, and while I may read them to see how it all ends up, I won't be waiting in line to waste a credit, either.

I actually read the 2nd in this series, Changeling, first and really enjoyed it so went back to the 1st book, Witchling. I think the 2nd book was better. The author must be improving on each book. The books are about 3 sisters that are 1/2 human & 1/2 faerie but are also one witch, one vampire, and one werecat. This book focuses more on the witch sister, the 2nd book focuses more on the werecat sister. Im supposing the 3rd book, Darkling, will focus on the vampire sister. Good book.

Really, REALLY great book that while I had a lot of fun reading, the characters and their journey stayed with me longer after I shut the book on its last page. First off, as the author states on her website- this is an Urban Paranormal series, NOT Paranormal Romance like it's labeled. There is romance, but it's very sexual in nature and is not monogamous. Camille is a half-human, half-Fae with sketchy Witch powers. Her and her sisters work at keeping their old world and "Earthside" in peaceful co-existance, but some very bad demons put both worlds in terrible danger. This book has humor, adventure, horror, steamy sex and great relationships between the three sisters and their friends- all in under 300 pages!This is great for those who enjoy modern fantasy & paranormal stories and don't require a traditional romantic story. I'm in the middle of the second book, Changeling, and it's just as good, if not better than this. Highly recommended!

Pretty good. I will read the second and likely the third but not a book I would keep for a long time. Took me a while to get into it but about 1/3 of the way through I was interested enough to both finish in a few hours and want to read the next one.
Updated: I agree with other reviewers that the main character was full of herself and a little hard to like. However, I found the main character in the second novel fun and charming and the second book had a much stronger plot.

I liked this book. It put me in the mind just a little bit of Charmed, one of my favorite series. Not alot, but the whole witch thing, with the three sisters....You know. I thought the main character was likeable, but I really can't wait to read about the other sisters, especially the vamp.

Although I usually enjoy Yasmine Galenorn's books, this one I had a hard time with. It was too over the top for me. I like a bit of the paranormal, but this was so out there it didn't do it for me. I won't be reading the next one in the series, that's for sure!

I loved this book! It was very action packed and juicey. There are three sisters that are half-human and half-faerie. Their powers are unpredictable but they kick some good demon butt! If you are into Si-fi and fantasy this is a good book/series to plunge into!

Camille, the main character and first person narrator, isn't a deep character. She appears to be more concerned with getting laid than performing her task, which is strange considering the mystery she's supposed to solve threatens both earth and Other World. She and her sisters are all supposed to be a type of detective for the Other World, yet all of them seem to have trouble figuring out how to go about solving the mystery and are slow to come to any conclusions. The main characters knowledge base, specifically when it comes to Japanese, is inconsistent.
There are a lot of ridiculous metaphors in the writing like "I was on him like snow on a mountain". The sex scenes are short and corny. Three of the four being described as getting to the top of a cliff and tumbling off.

I agree with the last couple of reviews. I found this book hard to get through, it actually took me over a week and with really good books I can get through them in a day. It definitely us VERY cookie cutter, except for 'Smokey' the Dragon (yeah that's really his name). I don't think I will continue to read this serious.

Excellent! I liked this book, strong female heroine with lots of action! Waiting for the next one!
Overall, I liked this book. It's somewhere between dark and cute on the paranormal scale, leaning more towards cute, but not quite. The narrator (Camille) is one of three sisters; all of whom have different abilities (witch, were, vampire). I thought that sounded interesting and ramped up the possibilities for the plot.
Camille is sassy, spontaneous, and a tart, so if you like your heroines monogamous, this isn't the book for you. Also, I can see where the language might be a put-off for some readers, as well.

Not one of the best paranormal romances that I've picked up lately. Kind of bored me until the dragon showed up. I'm not too fond of Camille, but since I have the next 3 books in the series I'll finish reading the series...hope something good happens!

I really liked this book. I did not mind all the background info at the begining. It was the perfect summer escape for me. I needed a light, funny, and thoughtful book to take my mind off things. Witchling was it.

Found the story interesting. Loved the characters,was an awsome read. Weres,dragons,saving the world. Can't wait for the second book.
Didn't finish it. Got about 100 pages in but have no interest in picking it back up. The characters are annoying and don't seem genuine. Plus the plot doesn't seem to be getting anywhere fast. Who knows, maybe I will try and read it again someday.
Boy, have I been on a roll of picking great urban fantasy/ paranormal romance series of late. First I was introduced to Jennifer Armintrout and now, Yasmine Galenorn. The characters in this series are fabulous. The writing draws you in and keeps you enthralled throughout the entire book. This author has an wonderful knowledge of ancient lore and witchcraft. She weaves a beautiful, entertaining story of three sisters (do not think Charmed, this is completely different!) who are half fairy, half human. The books rotate as to which sister's point of view they are written from. I have fallen in love with Camille (the witch) and hope to enjoy the next two just as much, Changeling, book 2 is from Delilah (the werecat's) point of view and the third, Darkling, from Menolly's (the vampire.) They continue to rotate in this pattern throughout the series. FUN, FUN, FUN read! Comes to you very much a recommended read!
This book has a good story and lots of paranormal but I would not call it a romance. I got the whole series and made it thru the first two. The books are good if you like urban fantasy there is no love story with great sex. It is more adventure with a hint of sex. If you are a die hard J.R. Ward fan you maybe disappointed with this read. I would recommend this if you are not looking for love, hot sex or happy ever after.

Before the actual story can really begin, the reader must learn all about vampires, witches, Sidhe, giants, and their origins. All of these supernatural characters come to earth from the Otherworld--an alternate dimension. The three sisters this series centers on are members of an orginization that protects earth from the bad things coming out of the Otherworld. Apparently the really bad ones come from some place called Subterranean Realms. A giant is murdered and the sisters suspect that it has something to do with the new leader of the Sub Realms.
The book is told from the first person perspective of Camile, the oldest of three half fairy, half human sisters. Somehow, I haven't figured out how, she is a witch...but her sisters are a shapeshifter and a vampire respectively. Camile is romantically pursued by Chase, but repeatedly says she finds him repulsive and a relationship would not work anyway because Chase is fully human.
I think my frustrations with this book are obvious. In my oppinion when it comes to paranormal--less is more. Too many creatures, characters, clubs, organizations, locations, rules and customs, it's all just needlessly exhausting for readers. More importantly it slows the actual plot to a crawl. I would have been happier it the books spead ahead with the murder investigation and explained the other convuluted elements as we went along--and just deleted a few all together. This way it just doesn't flow well.
To say something nice, I thought this book had a few cute touches. The sisters themselves were rather cute. Delilah, who transforms into a tabby cat when stressed. Camile who's magic occasionally goes haywire resulting in public nudity. Menolly, who beads her hair because the jingling noise makes her happy. Yeah, there is potential in all of this. I just felt the book was to busy on the whole.

Sorry, this book was just not to my liking. I couldn't get past the first three capters. It was very dull and didn't draw me into the story. I absolutely LOVE books about witches, vampires and the supernatural, but this was just boring to me. Giving it two stars is was more than it deserved.
I enjoyed this first book in the Sisters of the Moon series. The sisters are an interesting group - half-human, half-faerie - Camille, the witch; Delilah, the cat shifter; and Menolly, the vampire. Though the backstory is a fight to keep the demons from infiltrating Earth and then Otherworld, this is Camille's story. She has two lovers - Trillian, a dark elf and Morio, a japanese fox demon (a good guy). She is also the witch who uses her faulty powers to stop three demons in their first attempt to get the nine spirit seals. This is action and adventure from the start. I really liked the dragon and somehow I think he will end up with one of the sisters. No proof just a feeling as he is gorgeous in man form and they all like him.

This series was recommended to me by a friend. I found this book hard to read and while I like the plot it got lost behind an annoying heroine. I actually skipped paragraphs due to the same storyline being told to me several times, leaving me feeling as if the author believed I was too stupid to remember what happened 20 pages ago. I've been told that the second book in the series is wonderful so I will give it a shot.
Frankly, I was disappointed. The idea was great but the delivery/writing was lacking. The book comes off silly. Unfortunately, I have the entire series...wish I didn't...but hope the 2nd book is better.
Witches, shapeshifter and vampires - all good! Romance - for me not a draw, hence my lower rating. If you like all the above, this might be your series.

I read the 3rd book in this series, then went back to this first book and read the rest of the Otherworld books until I caught up with the author. Each book centers on one of 3 sisters, whose activities become the central story of the book. Lots of magic and fun characters. This is a fun series to read, has some light romance and in later books more sex.
I picked this up because a friend of mine recommended it. I was neither disappointed nor particularly impressed.

I'd have to agree with alot of the reviews, this book was so slow, I couldnt even finish it, very disappointing as it sounded so promising.
The influences here are obvious. Laurell K. Hamilton, Rachel Caine, Kim Harrison, Charmed, Buffy, Angel . . . The result though is tepid because only the superficial bits of these influences have rubbed off and then regurgitated out into this novel.
It's about three sisters all half human, half fey. We have a witch, a vampire and a werecat. This story is about the witch named Camille. She has really big boobies (double D's if you must know), long lustrous raven hair and a face and body that all the men die for. She likes MAC makeup (hey, I thought even the most inept of the faerie could produce a glamour spell -- but what do I know?), sexy shoes, Victoria's secret undies and sex with hot men. This is our heroine, a woman we can all surely identify with, eh?
Camille, it is explained, is an inept witch because she's a half-breed but for some reason she, along with her sisters, work for some sort of covert between the worlds organization. Or something. I'll be honest, my mind started drifting early on here. The info. dumps were what did me in. I felt like I had been dropped plop into the middle of a series and I really hate that. Even more-so when I know this is book #1 of the series.
Apparently, one of their friends has been murdered and a demon has possibly breached the portal (yikes, we better get on this Scoobs!) and they must find 6 seals before a demon named "Badass Luke" (honestly, I did not make that up) or Armageddon will spread hellfire and damnation on all the realm (ok, I may have made part of that up). But instead of rushing out and trying to stop the big baddie straightaway Camille laments that she hasn't had sex in soooo very long and daydreams about her ex-lover who was oh-so-sexy but oh-so-bad for her. Gag me.
I finished it. It didn't get any better, only more convoluted and silly. There was some sex but even that was boring. Ah well, they can't all be winners.

Found this book under paranormal romance, paranormal yes ~ romance not really, there is some, but the story doesn't revolve around it. Despite other reviews I actually enjoyed the book. I liked Camille, I found her to be strong & caring, yes there is an arogance to her, but I don't find that a turn off in a heroine. I liked the pacing of the story and the fae world that the sisters come from.
I am looking forward to reading the series and see where it goes.

I agree with a previous review that the premise was interesting; this falls into the category of books whose concept and storyline I like but which is so poorly written that I can't read it for very long before I'm either laughing AT the book or wishing someone else had written it. If you want a well written book in this general genre, try Patricia Briggs -- her work is much better written and still features a female heroine.

An interesting twist on the world of Faerie. Faerie is not a myth to humans in this universe but known and usually feted like stars. However, there are inhabitants of Faerie who not very pleasant. Therefore, it is job of Otherworld Intelligence Agency to deal with them. Witchling is a novel about three sisters, half-human and half-Faerie, who as agents of the OIA must deal with a demon called Shadow Wing. A fun take on a well-worn subject.
TERRIFIC read... Captivating and detailed takes the read into a whole different dimension wonderful escape for a reader to relax.
