Try as I might Wits End couldn't hold my attention

The other person reviewing this said it didn't keep her attention. That was exactly my problem. On the positive, the dialogue was quirky and amusing - there were many times when I laughed out loud. That part was highly enjoyable. But I was constantly pausing in my thoughts to wonder 'what the heck is going on?' The threads of the story are confusing. A number of times, she is presenting the characters in the story within the story, and I had trouble figuring out which story was which.
