Really, really, really could NOT take the author's voice. Over-enunciated and way too slow. Got through the first 2 cd's and decided that since I really rather put a bullet in the CD player than listen to anymore, I figured I'd give up.

I listened to the audio book and Mr. Burroughs' strong emotions were very evident. I was transfixed at times and horrified at others. Very powerful.

I like Augesten Burroughs, I liked this book. It's dark, it's sad, and at times I even saw myself "at the table". However, this is not an easy book to digest. Burroughs conjures up pure evil in this gloomy recollection of childhood. Very compelling but lacks a consistent flow.
