Lindskold does a terrific job of developing the character of her protagonist, torn between her awakening human nature and the wolf she would rather be. Blind Seer, her wolf best friend, is also a wonderfully well-developed character.

This is book two in the series about Firekeeper, first introduced in Through Wolf's Eyes. This book picks up where the previous one left off, with the wedding of Sapphire and Shad. Firekeeper is called away from the humans by a convention of the Royal Beasts and is sent on a quest to recover three magical artifacts from the humans.
This book was quite good for a sequel. The story was captivating and the characters well-defined. It's not the best the fantasy genre has to offer, but it definately isn't the worst either.

The second book in a series about a feral girl and her wolf kin. Stands well on it's own, so well I didn't actually realize at first it was a sequal. Follows the young Firekeeper as she learns to negotiate not only human relationships, but royal politics.

Lots of politic'ing and kind of sad. Firekeeper finds out a bit of history from the Royals about Royal/Human interaction. In the end Firekeeper has to give up what she wants and tries to please both humans and Royals. She's the one stuck in the middle.

This seemed to be a bit more gloomy tale than the first. I enjoyed reading this story, but I didn't come out happy at the end. Every plot and plot string seemed to be overlayed with sadness and conflict.

Everything that happened, even if it was good, or VERY good, seemed to be dragged down by the knowledge of all that COULD go wrong. Bleh.

I really like this series. The characters are well defined. She doesn't leave you hanging, but she does make you want to read the next book in the series. It's a book where I can read a little or a lot and be satisfied. I don't always have a lot of uniterupted time.

I enjoyed "Through Wolf's Eyes,", #1 in this series and I was eager to read further about Firekeeper and her friends. But the plot involves a lot of journeys, which are long and slow and take many, many pages to accomplish. I didn't finish "Wolf's Head, Wolf's Heart" and I don't plan to try to read the three sequels. The author has interesting characters and plots but far too few of her words have been cut by her editors. If you want a long, slowly moving epic, this is for you.

This is an excellent series mixing fantasy, political intrigue, court drama, and eventually magic. The series has stayed on my bookshelf for years as I have shared it with friends and family over the years. Everyone has enjoyed them. It is a much better series than the book jackets make them appear.

Another exciting book in the Fire Keeper wolf girl saga. I was kept on the edge of my seat wondering how they were going to solve one problem or dangerous escapade after another.

This is an exciting book, with magic, traveling, and foreign languages. Firekeeper is sent to recover some items from the humans that have them. On the way, she meets a former traveling performer and a high-ranking New Kelvinese Illustrator. Lady Blysse and her traveling companions are captured, rescued, endangered, and rescued again in the sequel to Through Wolf's Eyes.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and have ordered number three.

I am reading this currently and it is a good read, not a fast read for to do so would cause a reader to miss integral nuances in the story line. But captivating and enjoyable for a summer sun filled day in the hammock.
