Always have been and always will be a King Fan. So while there are the slightest imperfections and seemingly impossibilities King is still able to bring a story that is absorbing.
a must read... waiting on book 6 and 7 to finish off the series. dg
I can't get into the Dark Tower series, but I know there are tons of folks out there who LOVE it! This bit from an Amazon dot com review was interesting:
"As the players near the Tower, readers will keep finding exciting ties between the Dark Tower universe and King's other books, with links to Black House, Insomnia, The Eyes of the Dragon, The Stand, `Salem's Lot and Hearts in Atlantis. The high suspense and extensive character development here (especially concerning Jake's coming-of-age), plus the enormity of King's ever-expanding universe, will surely keep his "Constant Readers" in awe."

I'm glad this 5th book in the series picked up the pace. I was starting to get bored with the series after reading books 1-4. In this installment of the Dark Tower Series, the ka-tet take a break from activily searching for the Dark Tower to help the people of Calla Bryn Sturgis. While planning the for the attack against the Wolves of Thunderclap, the ka-tet realizes all things lead to the Dark Tower and more clues fall into place while other clues make things MORE difficult. The book ends on a cliff hanger making you want to immediately pick up Book 6.
From the back of the book:
Roland Deschain and his ka-tet are bearing southeast through the forests of Mid-World on their quest for the Dark Tower. Thier path takes them to the outskirts of Calla Bryn Sturgis. But beyond the tranquil farm town, the ground rises to the hulking darkness of Thunderclap, the source of a terrible affliction that is stealing the town's soul. The wolves of Thunderclap and thier unspeakable depredation are coming. To resist them is to risk all, but these are odds the gunslingers are used to. Their guns, however, will not be enough...

The series is picking up momentum in book five. I enjoy the plot complications and look forward to what King has in store for us in book six.

I had been putting off reading the last three in the series for quite a while. I forgot how good this was.
This was the oddest book in the series, but a rich tale by itself, too. I really enjoyed it.
Absolutely great book in the series..........
Stephen King is a master at weaving a story. I've enjoyed all the books in this series so far, but he kicks it up a notch in this one. The lives of all the characters are intertwining more, and the true nature of being a gunslinger is coming out. This left me very excited to read number VI to find out what happens next.
This was a great read. It went by amazingly fast for having over 800 pages. It nice to see the tie in to the other books because I have read so many other books by King.
