A Woman's Place is a very realistic story of divorce from a working woman's view. Claire is blind sided by a court order for her to vacate her home and her two children when she returns from her dying mother's bedside. She is torn by her role as mother, wife, daughter, sister and highly successful business woman. Each role is important but none of them as important to her as mother which her husband and the courts have ripped from her. Her fight to regain custody of her children is blocked on many fronts by untruths and an egosentric judge with a bias against working mothers. I enjoyed the book and found it a good view of the process and heartbreak of divorce.

I finished this book in about 3 days. Being a woman and a small business owner myself, I strongly identified with the story line. A great book!

As a rule, I love Barbara Delinsky's books, but I found this one overlong and boring. It felt dated to me and was not surprised when I found out that it is a reprint of a '96 book. Three quarters into the book, I gave up and skipped to end. For die hard fans only.
I really did enjoy this story, but wished I had the unabridged version. So many details were left to the imagination - I would have preferred to hear what the author intended. The ending was very well done, I think.
Excellent writing; hard to put down but also extremely frustrating storyline (that is too often real life). Worth the read if only for the inspiring personality of the main character.

This is one of my top 3 favorite Barbara Delinsky books. It just goes to show that things can get really bad, but turn around to the good side again, if you do things for the right reason.
I think Barbara Delinsky is a wonderful writer and she doesn't disappoint in this great book. The story revolves around a woman going through divorce and how she discovers she is tougher than she thinks she is. Couldn't put it down.
Excellent story!
I think this is Delinsky's best book! I wasn't sure if it was because I could relate to the story more so than most fantasy, but I was really touched by it.

her books can be a little predictable, but still a good read

Barbara Delinsky is one of my favorite authors and this is one terrific book. It just shows that you don't walk all over a woman and think you're going to get away with it. That just makes them tougher!! A great read.

She had absolutely no inkling that her marriage was so close to the brink of disaster; nor any clue that Dennis could possibly be so devious. He was obviously planning this ambush for weeks, if not months - Claire is certain of her suspicions.
She has no idea just how quickly her happy but hectic life will change; how fast everything she has worked so hard for will come crumbling down around her. Claire doesn't know what to do; where to turn or who to trust. Another amazing page turner by Barbara Delinsky! She never disappoints! I think she is an amazing author who seems to provide a lot of thought provoking topics. Yet again, the only disappointment was the fact that the book ended! I absolutely loved this book!
