The Women of Wynton's by Donna Mumm is a unique cozy mystery set in 1950s Florida with a surprising amount of off-the-page violence. The setting in a high-end department store was very interesting and included everyone from the president to the staff in the employee cafeteria.

The primary characters are four women employees of Wynton's, very different in age, position, and background. I appreciated that readers learn more about them throughout the novel and solve the mystery along with them.

Overall, I enjoyed this novel. A few abrupt jumps in the plot surprised me but moved the story along. The novel acurately reflects the racial prejudices of the time period and acknowledges that such attitudes and practices must change. This is published by a Christian publisher, but is more wholesome than faith-based.

Thank you to Barbour Books for the complimentary copies of this novel; all opinions are my own.
