For every man who ever thought he knew a woman and for every woman who ever thought she knew herself! For everyone who every grew up, got married and wondered what happened!
By Marilyn French, her first novel. Excellent story about a group of women as they live their lives through the 1960's.

Didn't like this book at all, I only read 1/4 of it and realized I couldn't read any more of it. I donated it to a bookstore, maybe someone else will enjoy it.
The cover says "Arguably the most influential novel yet written about the choices women make, The Women's Room is a classic of modern fiction and a landmark in feminist writing." I really enjoyed it and found the 517 pages went fast and left me wanting more.
Fabulous book - an oldie but a goodie!
another old one.
probably a little more for women, although my husband really liked it--we had a really interesting discussion about the issues it presented. it is insightful, loving, and honest.

A great feminist novel.
"Couargeous...Honest...Powerful."
CHICAGO TRIBUNE
The classic feminist novel that awakened both women and men speaks to everyone about the deep feelings at the heart of love and relationships. A biting social commentary of an emotional world gone silently haywire, THE WOMEN'S ROOM is a modern allegory that offers piercing insight into the social norms accepted so blindly and revered so completely.
