I love books that include recipes: Heartburn, Sweet Potato Queens, and this one. It is a series of episodes from the life of a girl named Roxanne. Stories of her parents, family traditions, and experiences in young love lead to adult life, and aging parents.
If you like the Fannie Flagg books, you'll like these.

I absolutely adored this book! Fell in love with Roxanne & all her family. A must read for anyway, who wishes to go back in time, and take a lovely trip down Memory Lane as it was in the 60's.

In this remarkable debut work from author Karen Stolz, we follow the ups and downs of a girl from pre-teen to teenager and womanhood. From crushs to surprise baby sisters to nail polish to a devastating death. Roxanne is our guide through life that has tenderness, sorrow and great humor as well as some great baking moments-recipes included. A sumptous sweet novel-though, like the best pies, tart in the right places.
