Book 1 of the 2nd trilogy about a man magically summoned to an alternate world to help them fight their most ancient evil foe because he is thought to be the reincarnation of it's greatest hero. A thoroughly adult fantasy tale full of sorcery, peril & heroism.

I really hated this series. Even though it was well written, I just couldn't stand the whiney main character. And I had to wonder all through this series if the author had something agianst women. Either your gonna love this series or hate it.

Great book! Best if you have read the previous trilogy. Thomas Covenant, back in the Land, but accompanied unexpectedly accompanied by Linden... who has earth sense, which this time Covenant does not. Great read. Love books by Donaldson.
