Excellent, powerful book. The second Charles Martin book I've read this year and I can't say enough good things about them. Strong characters, well developed plot a book of coming of age and facing your past. Excellent, can't wait to read more. Carol

I gave this book full stars, but purely for the story.
The author has an almost poetic way of writing that can be beautiful, but repetitive. Sometimes is it difficult to discern which character is speaking... but I think he might have intended it that way. I came away feeling like the story was missing something, like maybe the author omitted something due to his publishers or ??? There is violence in the book. I feel like the author fixated on this a little too much. There is a feeling about the two protagonists that they could be interchanged, kind of like Fight Club, but in a mild Christian version. all in all, worth reading.

My favorite by Charles Martin so far. Hard to put down-needed to know what happened. Just took me away on a love triumphs journey. World needs more Miss Ella's and alot less Rex
Unforgettable characters and a sweet story. Charles Martin is one of the best writers of our time. He weaves together characters like a knitter making an afghan. Ghosts of the past brought together and put to rest through healing the heart.
This is the first book of Charles Martin's that I've read. He has a real God-given gift for writing. Fabulous story, characters, message. I will be reading all of his books.
This is a good book
Great book. So far I have loved every single book I have read by Charles Martin.
This particular mass market version has the smallest type I've ever seen. Maybe I'm getting old??? Yes I wear bifocals but just take them off when reading. I've never felt uncomfortable with the size of the letters before. The book is fairly thin, it could easily have been made thicker with larger type. Were the publishers too cheap to use a few more pieces of paper? Also the book is made of some of the cheapest grey paper I've ever seen. I've never reviewed a book on the quality of the actual manufacturer but this one needs to be pointed out! I'm turning it in while it's still on a wish list. I might reorder the hardback, haven't decided. I have another book of his in my library that I will probably read first just to make sure I like the author. I'm going to take note of this publisher because I just might not like the quality of their books.
