I don't know why, this hardcover book is not the same as the paperback version. It seems to me that the paperback is an update. All the books from the Great Source are great, but they should have print the edition and update information on the cover. Also, there are much less than 900 pages in the book. The 912 "page" number is actually item number. There are about 500 pages only.

As a classroom teacher, this book was indispensible in the classroom. I have a class set and we use this book religiously throughout the year. Students know to grab it when they are working on a piece of writing or just looking for the right way to put a sentence together. It is easy to use and perfect for any household or classroom.

great tool for middle school kids. It helps young teens develop and mature their writing skills with a concise and easy-to-follow lay out bursting with valuable information.

I used this when I was in the 5th through 8th grades. It covers everything from sentence structure, syntax and active vs. passive voice to points of view and creating your oen writing style. There is even a whole chapter devoted to different ways to say "said!"

This is a must-have reference for pre-teens and teenagers, whether they are already talented writers or not.
